Senior Database Reliability Engineer

The Qualys SaaS platform is database centric and relies heavily on Oracle, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Kafka, Redis, Janusgraph, Ceph, Hadoop etc to deliver 24x7 service to our customers worldwide.
We are looking for an individual who is proficient in 2 or more of the above-mentioned technologies. He must be enthusiastic in learning new technologies and automate day-to-day tasks.

This individual is primarily responsible for keeping production systems running across our many worldwide platforms. Working knowledge on OCI or any other public cloud is a plus.

DBRE will be working closely with Development/Engineering, SRE, Infra, Networking, Support teams and Worldwide Customers to provide 24x7 Support for Qualys production applications to improve the service through database optimizations. This position will report to Manager DBRE.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform installation, configuration, performance tuning of Oracle/Elasticsearch/Cassandra/Kafka/Redis/Ceph/Janusgraph in multi-DC environment.
2. Identifying the bottlenecks and performance tuning.
3. Responsible for integrity and security of the database.
4. Monitoring performance and managing configuration parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users.
5. Installation and testing of new databases as well as patching of existing live databases.
6. Ensuring that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
7. Go the extra mile in understanding business applications and suggest/perform necessary database or architecture changes.

Qualifications:

1. BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, or related field.
2. Minimum 8+ years of extensive experience managing SQL & No-SQL databases in production.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Should have extensive knowledge of diagnostic, monitoring and troubleshooting tools to identify performance bottlenecks, and take appropriate corrective actions to improve database performance.
5. Knowledge of operating interrelationships between database, business applications and operating systems.
6. Understand backup and recovery scenarios.
7. Familiarity with real-time data synchronization.
8. Problem-solving and good analytical skills.
9. Must be able to work with multiple groups to resolve data issues.
10. Must have experience of working in mid to large size production environment.
11. Should have working knowledge on Ansible/Jenkins/git/Grafana.
12. Demonstrated passion for innovation with an ability to work within agile software development methodologies.

Annual Salary Guidelines: $135,000 - $155,000
