JOB SUMMARY: The engineer is responsible for working on projects and implementations as well as providing operational and escalation support for PFFCU's network infrastructure.
Duties include working on project, implementations, hand offs, system documentation, device configurations, system maintenance, system life cycles, operational support for network systems, and network escalations. Some travel between branch and office locations may be needed for projects.
The engineer must possess hands on ability to document solutions to complex problems and execute project tasks within a team environment. A successful engineer will professionally work with other teams in the organization while keeping management appraised of the status of his/her projects and any escalations.
Must possess hands on ability to execute creative solutions to complex problems. Must be able to balance the ability to work independently and be a part of a high-performance team. Professionally interact with user groups while keeping Information Services management fully appraised of the status of his/her projects. This job is for on-prem systems.
This job requires the engineer to be onsite at Bensalem location for first 90 days and then has the ability to transition to a hybrid work from home schedule. There is also an on-call rotation that requires the engineer to be on-site once a week monthly.
RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:
  • Lead the implementation and deployment of new locations, equipment, and technologies.
  • Take lead of the network system life cycle efforts and perform proactive maintenance to include proactively monitoring network performance and utilization and provide recommendations for improvement, upgrades, and expansion.
  • Conduct visits to branch locations and secondary data centers as needed for site and equipment audits and maintenance.
  • Review, audit, and remediate network devices for compliance with security standards.
  • Maintain and update network equipment with software patches and firmware updates to insure reliability, performance and up to date security.
  • Maintain and update documentation and diagrams for all network devices and services.
  • Revise, update, and create departmental procedures and run-books.
  • Support other teams and groups in the credit union on their day-to-day tasks
  • Analyze and diagnose reported network problems while documenting root cause, providing recommendations for remediation, and performing corrective actions.
  • Work with third parties and vendors for problem escalation and resolution.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the business side of PFFCU and be able to interface effectively with all user groups in the organization.
  • Ensure timely completion of daily tasks, short term, and long-term projects.
  • Tier 3 escalation contact; including participating in an on-call rotation for afterhours support.
  • Support projects, implementations, and handoffs to other teams
  • Create documentation and diagrams for projects, implementations, and network devices, services, and implementations.
  • Maintain and update network systems as needed with software and firmware updates.
  • Review, audit, and remediate network devices for compliance with standards.
  • Support requests from other teams and business units within PFFCU
  • Analyze and diagnose reports of network problems while documenting root cause, providing recommendations for remediation, and performing corrective actions.
  • Work with vendors for problem escalation and resolution.
  • Ensure timely completion of daily tasks, short term, and long-term projects.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation for afterhours support.
  • Provide secondary application support for network admin functions
  • Assist with vulnerability remediation.
  • Review and maintenance of daily jobs including the scheduled tasks.
  • Perform security hardening of network security systems.
  • Proactively provide recommendations for improving internal systems
  • Document and diagram in Visio current and future expansion of systems and network through thoughtful analysis and review.
  • Analyze network devices ypology for possible issues.
  • Work in conjunction with third party vendors to expedite resolution.
  • Provide any required support on various hardware as needed in conjunction with various groups.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the business side of PFFCU and be able to interface effectively with all user areas.
  • Ensuring timely completion of projects and deployments in conjunction with the Business Plan.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Network Manager and Senior Management
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 7+ years hands on experience with Cisco network infrastructure.
  • Advanced understanding of configuration and troubleshooting for Cisco ISR Routers, Cisco Catalyst Switches, Cisco Nexus Switches, Cisco Firewalls, and Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Strong understanding of network and network security concepts, including BGP, MP BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, IPsec, MACsec, VPN, 802.1x.
  • Strong understanding of operating systems, such as Windows and Linux.
  • Strong understanding of network related tools and applications such as SSH, SNMP, SMTP, NetFlow, PKI, Cisco DNA, Cisco DCNM/NDFC, ASDM, FMC, and Panorama.
  • Strong project management skills required, specifically the ability to maintain focus and complete multiple concurrent projects with multi-month timeframes.
  • Demonstrate an ability to learn and work with next generation firewalls, network security technologies, load balancers, and networking monitoring tools.
  • Strong understanding of network and security monitoring tools to insure the availability and integrity of network communications and systems.
  • Ability to think logically and visualize abstract concepts and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information to individuals at all levels of the organization and with third party vendors and providers.
  • Ability to work varying hours, including some evening and weekends, and travel to branch locations as needed for site maintenance and deployments.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and rack/stack networking equipment.
  • Ability to work varying hours, sometimes includes evening and weekend work
