We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Marketing Data Engineer to join our dynamic marketing team. As a Marketing Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in driving data-driven marketing initiatives and optimizing our marketing strategies. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining our marketing data infrastructure, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of our marketing data. This position offers an exciting opportunity to use your technical expertise and analytical skills to drive business growth and enhance marketing performance.

Responsibilities

Data Architecture and Infrastructure:

  1. Design, develop, and maintain a robust marketing data infrastructure, including data pipelines, data warehouses, and data integration processes.
  2. Collaborate with multi-functional teams to define data requirements and implement efficient data collection, storage, and processing solutions.
  3. Ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of marketing data infrastructure.
  4. Work with Corporate IT to understand follow standards, best practices and release process.
  5. Develop a proven understanding of the technical details of data domains, and clearly understand what business problems are being solved.

Data Integration and Management:

  1. Extract, transform, and load (ETL) marketing data from various sources, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
  2. Develop and implement data integration workflows and processes to enable seamless data flow across marketing systems and platforms.
  3. Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, identifying and resolving performance issues and bottlenecks.
  4. Help to define business rules that determine the quality of data, assist the product owner in writing test scripts that validate business rules, and perform detailed and rigorous testing to ensure data quality.
  5. Stay up to date with emerging data engineering technologies, trends, and standard methodologies, and evaluate their applicability to improve data systems and processes.

Automation and Optimization:

  1. Find opportunities for process automation and optimization within marketing data management and reporting functions.
  2. Implement data automation tools and techniques to streamline data processing and reporting workflows.
  3. Continuously evaluate and improve data engineering processes, tools, and technologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  4. Build, tune, and optimize data integration workflows to connect data from different systems and platforms.
  5. Use deployment automation software such as Jenkins to detect defects in a code base, build the software, automate testing of their builds, prepare the code base for deployment (delivery), and ultimately deploy code.

Technology Evaluation and Implementation:

  1. Stay updated with the latest digital marketing technologies and industry trends to find opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  2. Evaluate and recommend digital marketing data tools, platforms, and technologies to enhance data collection, integration, and analysis processes.
  3. Collaborate with IT and vendors to implement and integrate digital marketing data solutions effectively.

Qualifications

Education:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience:

  1. 3+ years of proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data engineering, such as Python, SQL, Shell scripting.
  2. 3+ years designing and developing data pipelines and ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into cloud storage or on-prem databases.
  3. Solid understanding of SQL and database concepts, preferably Oracle DB.
  4. Demonstrable experience as a Data Engineer, preferably in a marketing or analytics-focused role.
  5. Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.
  6. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
  7. Experience with data integration tools and platforms, such as ETL frameworks and cloud-based data warehouses.
  8. Ability to perform extensive data analysis (comparing multiple datasets) using a variety of tools, including SQL query tools, advanced Excel, and file processing tools.
  9. Competent in Unix or Linux shell scripting and commands.
  10. Demonstrated experience in data management & data governance capabilities.
  11. Familiarity with marketing technologies and platforms, such as CRM systems, marketing automation tools, and digital advertising platforms.
  12. Solid understanding of data management principles, data governance, and data quality best practices.
  13. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights.
  14. Superb communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multi-functional teams.
  15. Competent with project management platforms such as Workfront, Jira, Trello for issue and bug tracking as well as product development tasks.
  16. Open to work in an over-lapped shift to align with our US colleagues.
