Who we are looking for.

State Street Global Advisors is looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer/ Data Analyst with 3+ years’ experience to join our Portfolio Analytics Technology Solutions team. The candidate will be responsible for building and supporting an end-to-end data pipeline, which includes both on-prem and cloud components. The successful candidate will have strong business and technology acumen, build partnerships, foster close collaboration, and work hand in hand with the business and technology teams. The position is in Boston, MA. Due to the role requirements this job needs to be performed primarily in the office with some flex opportunities available.

What you will be responsible for

  1. Develop/ Build and enhance data pipelines using Python, Spark based data engineering solutions (Databricks), and SQL (AWS Redshift).
  2. Participate in scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application build, unit testing, and production deployment.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and ensure successful project execution.
  4. Support existing data pipelines in production for any critical issues and provide resolution fixes.
  5. Provide scalable solutions that work with large datasets without impacting performance.
  6. Attention to detail and adherence to best practices.
  7. Develop oneself into a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Technical and Functional domain areas.

What we value

  • Demonstrated experience in Python, PySpark and SQL (AWS Redshift, Postgres, Oracle).
  • Demonstrated experience building data pipelines with PySpark and AWS.
  • Application development experience in financial services with hands on designing, developing, and deploying complex applications. Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements in a technical design and through to implementation.
  • Strong leadership skill, analytical problem-solving skills, quick to learn and adapt.
  • Self-motivated, creative problem solver, organized, collaborative with excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle for Iterative, Agile, and traditional approaches.
  • Experience working with global development teams across different geographies and time zones.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of development experience in technology and/or data functions in financial services or consulting industry.
  • Hands on experience with establishing data strategies and data transformation implementations with in a fast paced, dynamically growing sector in the industry.
  • Hands on development in Python, PL/SQL, SQL, Shell Scripting, AutoSys.
  • Hands on experience working in cloud data platforms such as AWS Redshift, Spark based data engineering solutions.
  • Demonstrate experience in CI/CD tools such as Artifactory, Jenkins, Bitbucket etc.
  • Experience in Financial Services, Asset Management functions highly preferred.
  • Experience with Tableau will be an added advantage.
