Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lifecycle Management: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of developer tools, from selection and implementation to maintenance and upgrades.
  2. Technical Expertise: Provide in-depth technical guidance on the best practices, use cases, and configurations of various developer tools.
  3. Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment, working closely with development teams to understand their needs and challenges, and providing effective solutions.
  4. Tool Integration: Ensure seamless integration of developer tools within the existing development infrastructure and workflows.
  5. Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements, continuously exploring new tools and technologies that can enhance developer productivity.
  6. Training and Support: Develop and deliver training programs and support documentation to ensure effective use of developer tools across the organization.
  7. Performance Monitoring: Implement and manage metrics to monitor the performance and usage of developer tools, making data-driven decisions for improvements.
  8. Budget Management: Manage the budget for developer tools, ensuring cost-effective procurement and maintenance.
  9. Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot installation and execution issues related to developer tools.
  10. Collaboration: Work with other groups in Northern Trust in resolving INCs related to developer tools.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
  2. Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing developer tools.
  3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in a wide range of developer tools (e.g., IDEs, CI/CD pipelines, version control systems) and familiarity with programming languages. Extensive experience with installation and configuration of developer tools on PC and Mac platforms. Experience in system administration, networking, active directories. Experience in setup and configuration of security certificates and policies. Experience in configuring proxy settings. Experience in testing and troubleshooting desktop software installation/configuration and running. Experience in Docker Desktop and Anaconda would be a huge plus.
  4. Leadership: Proven track record of leading and mentoring technical teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
  6. Project Management: Experience in project management, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  7. Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with cloud-based development environments and tools.
  2. Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  3. Certifications in relevant technologies and tools.
