This hybrid position is within the Distribution Engineering group in Western Massachusetts.
Eversource is seeking an engineering candidate to oversee the reliability of the distribution system in the Pittsfield Area Work Center, which includes the City of Pittsfield and surrounding towns. There is some flexibility regarding the base office location (Pittsfield, Hadley, or Springfield), with the candidate required to work from the base office location twice a week. Additionally, the candidate should expect to visit the Pittsfield Area Work Center and patrol distribution circuits regularly or as needed.
Distribution Engineering is responsible for the strategic development, expansion, planning, design, maintenance and operation of the system and its equipment to provide reliable service to customers. Technical solutions and modernization initiatives are improving operations and enabling integration of renewable energy resources. The group is responsible for delivering both short-term and long-term engineering solutions to enhance system reliability and resiliency. This includes implementing initiatives for electrification and piloting new technologies to improve circuit reliability. Additionally, the Distribution Engineering group reviews and provides feedback on Distributed Energy Resource (DER) projects and works to prevent, evaluate, and resolve system failures effectively.
Essential Functions:
- Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity in both inside as well as outside the scope of typical responsibility.
- Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; decisions may affect the operations or results of the work group and may have some impact on major projects or department results.
- Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
- Conducts engineering and related studies; completes non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with the ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; Possesses and applies the fundamental engineering concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies necessary to handle assignments of increasing complexity.
- Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
- Maintains accurate records and files.
- Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
- Knowledge of utility power systems is preferred.
- Ability to independently develop, present and execute new projects through collaborations with other departments.
- Familiarity with power related software is preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Experience :
- Engineer: 3-5 years related experience is required. Engineering design experience preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The salary range for this position is $94,730.00 to $105,250.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
