Job Title: Cost Engineer
Location: Tinian Island, Northern Mariana Islands
Job Description:
The Cost Engineer will be responsible for providing detailed cost control services, ensuring that project costs are properly managed, monitored, and reported. This role involves analyzing project budgets, tracking expenditures, forecasting project costs, and collaborating with project teams to ensure financial goals are met.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain cost control systems to monitor project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
Prepare and update cost estimates and budgets based on project requirements.
Track project costs against approved budgets, identifying cost variances and reporting them to the project management team.
Provide regular cost reports, cash flow projections, and financial summaries for management.
Collaborate with project teams to ensure that all cost data is accurately reported and communicated to stakeholders.
Assist with the preparation of cost forecasts and project financials.
Update forecasts as required to reflect changes in scope, schedule, or budget.
Identify potential cost risks and provide recommendations for mitigating cost overruns.
Participate in risk assessment meetings and provide input on cost-related risks and impacts.
Assist in the preparation of project cost estimates during various phases (feasibility, pre-construction, execution).
Review contractor/subcontractor cost proposals for accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
Evaluate contractor change order proposals and ensure they align with project budgets.
Review contractor invoices for accuracy and completeness before approving payments.
Work closely with project managers, procurement, and accounting teams to ensure project costs are in line with expectations.
Provide input to project scheduling to ensure cost efficiency and budget alignment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in cost control, cost engineering, or project controls, with large-scale construction or engineering projects.
Strong knowledge of cost management software (e.g., SAP, Primavera P6, or equivalent).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial modeling tools.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate complex financial data to project stakeholders effectively.
Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred:
Certification in Cost Engineering (CCE/CEP) or Project Management (PMP).
