Sr Director of Software Engineering

TransCore (TRN) is seeking a full-time Sr. Director of Software Engineering to join our team in Germantown, Maryland.

Summary: We are actively seeking a seasoned Senior Director of Software Engineering with a distinguished career in leading large-scale technical teams. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in the Transportation and Back Office Systems, showcasing a remarkable history of driving innovation, optimizing IT operations, and achieving strategic business objectives. With over 15 years in the industry, the successful candidate will possess profound technical expertise, strategic leadership capabilities, and a commitment to aligning technology initiatives with organizational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Strategic Leadership:
  • Lead and guide large technical teams in defining architecture, design, and development for electronic toll collection applications across diverse regions of the USA.
  • Drive the overall management and delivery of features and functions related to customer service management, transaction processing, and violation enforcement.
• Roadmap Definition:
  • Define the roadmap for the flagship product in electronic toll collection, ensuring integration of services based on industry needs.
  • Lead the development of interface specifications for data transfer in various electronic toll collection programs.
• Project Oversight:
  • Ensure the end-to-end delivery of programs adheres to schedule, quality standards, and budget constraints.
  • Act as a point of escalation for conflict resolution.
• Team Leadership:
  • Provide oversight to development teams, fostering a culture of innovation and adherence to best practices.
  • Map out migration strategies and lead implementation efforts for new features and changes.
• Communication and Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including C-suite executives, to align technology initiatives with overarching business objectives.
  • Effectively communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience: Over 15 years in the Transportation and Road Usage Charging Back Office Systems industry.
• Skills: Strategic leadership, program leadership, and technical expertise in Electronic Toll Collection programs.
• Business and technical analysis, conflict resolution, and budget management.
• Innovation and Change Management.
• Coaching, mentoring, and team development.
• Education: Master of Science in CSC/IT/Software Systems.
