Selectek is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join the team with one of our partnering clients. This role involves developing control systems logic and electrical distribution schematics, managing projects, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.


Employment Type: Direct Hire
Expected Pay Range: $95,000 - $130,000+ annual salary, based on experience
Location: Santa Clara, CA

Job Requirements:
  1. BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  2. EIT with ability to obtain PE license in CA.
  3. Minimum (5) years of experience, or equivalent work experience and certifications that exemplify a desire for continuing education or advancement.
  4. Working knowledge of control systems architecture and networks required.
  5. Proficiency in troubleshooting control systems and an understanding of process controls required.
  6. Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate with people of all levels including customers and contractors.
  7. Requires ability to create and edit AutoCAD drawings.
  8. Low Voltage Experience.
  9. Ability to do general load calculations.

Job Details:
  1. Work with programmers to develop instrumentation and controls logic.
  2. Read, analyze, and interpret project documents, instructions, proposals, specifications, and other relevant information to obtain a clear understanding of the project requirements.
  3. Evaluate life safety and regulatory requirements including CA Fire Code, CA and National Electrical Code, NFPA and hazardous location requirements.
  4. Work with AutoCAD and Revit designers to develop monitoring and controls system layout, block diagrams, and wiring schematic.
  5. Specify equipment, toxic and flammable gas detectors, audible/visual alarms, instrumentation, process safety interlocks, PLCs, and related automation equipment.
  6. Manage projects and customer relationships. Prepare proposals and define scope, deliverables, schedule, and budget.
  7. Work successfully with the OAC team to coordinate field installation, testing, and inspections - focusing on customer service, problem-solving and continuous improvement.
