Harris & Associates and PGH Wong are the joint-venture team working for the California High Speed Rail Authority to deliver the first 29-mile segment of this historic project—which has become a model for success across the United States.Position SummaryThe Field Engineer will be responsible for supporting the Construction Manager, on-site, in seeing that the project is constructed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications.Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Provide photographic records.Be able to read and understand architectural, structural, and civil drawingsBe able to redline drawings and pictures using adobe acrobatTrack completed work; and assist in reviewing contractor’s progress paymentsProvide field support services for submittals, RFIs, and requests for contract change orders.Notify the resident engineer of any observed non-conformances and assist in the issuance of non-conformance reports as required.Participate in and/or conduct planning, preconstruction, coordination, progress, scheduling and field staff meetings.Review plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, constructability reviews and contract closeout records.Assist in detecting and resolving disputes and/or problemsRespond to complaints from the publicEnsure that all required tests, operations, measurements, and inspections are scheduled, ordered, staff working on progress payments by verifying and preparing quantity and progress estimates.Maintain records on unit price quantities, labor, equipment and progress for change order work.Review change orders for implementation.Make field measurements and maintain as-built drawing records.Conduct and/or witness testing of contract material, equipment, and installations.Report safety and traffic hazards, defective work and debris to the contractor for correction.Qualifications and ExperienceMinimum 7 years of relevant work experience5+ years of verifiable full-time experience in structures inspection work, including two years of experience as a structures inspector working on-site and independently completing inspectionsFamiliarity with transit industry standards, practices, and regulations is helpful.Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving recordSkills and Competencies:Potential to perform in a lead capacity.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Must be proficient in the use of Excel and MSWord.Ability to work in a cooperative team environment.Compensation & BenefitsSalary $120K-$170K B.O.EWe offer competitive salaries and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
