We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join a team of experienced engineers focused on designing, implementing, and operating Data Center network infrastructure, network security, Cloud Networking, and Application Delivery. This position is located in Washington, DC or Richmond, VA and offers a schedule of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.
Responsibilities
- Support network, security, and application delivery solutions for CoStar’s internal and external products on premises and on AWS Cloud.
- Manage projects related to network services such as Cloud, Global Traffic Management, Content Delivery, application and network load balancing.
- Develop automation to improve engineering and operational tasks.
- Evaluate, design, and implement network products to fill business needs.
- Triage tickets related to connectivity concerns, perform root cause analysis, and iterate processes to prevent future issues.
- Develop and improve processes related to network operations and support.
- Support and manage monitoring platforms.
- Manage software & firmware equipment update cycle.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to other network engineers and teams on network-related questions and projects.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Manage company’s certificates, domains, IP address allocation, AS design, traffic engineering, security perimeters, and app delivery architecture.
- Work with various technologies including, but not limited to:
- AWS Cloud – VPCs, AWS Network Firewall, Direct Connect, peer links, R53.
- F5 LTM, GTM and Nginx, Akamai CDN, DNS Edge, Siteshield.
- Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Routing protocols – BGP, OSPF.
- Cisco switching – Classic, Network Fabric, ACI.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university or college.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, VLANs, routing, switching).
- 5+ years of experience with AWS Network services – AWSNF, VPCs, TGW, ELBs, ALBs.
- 2+ years of experience supporting DevOps teams and deployment tools – TFS, Azure DevOps, Git, Terraform.
- Strong scripting and/or automation experience – Python, Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell.
- Solid knowledge on content delivery technologies and solutions (GTM, LTM, ALB, NLB, Nginx, Akamai) and network services such as DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, NTP.
- Hands-on experience with network operations, troubleshooting, and managing network projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including writing procedural documents.
Preferred Qualifications And Skills
- Solid experience with firewall design and operations – Palo Alto, AWS Network Firewall.
- Experience with monitoring platforms including LogicMonitor, Solarwinds, PRTG, Epitiro, and ThousandEyes.
- Experience deploying IPv6 networks – migration, hybrid environment.
- Experience supporting enterprise/carrier grade networks – routing and switching.
- Experience administering Certificate Management tools – AppviewX, DigiCert, etc.
- Hands-on experience in network protocol analyzers/sniffers, troubleshooting.
- Experience managing layer-2 fabrics using spine/leaf & VXLAN EVPN.
- Knowledge of project management tools – Jira, Confluence, Agile.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, AWS (Network, Content Delivery), Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE), Palo Alto (PCNSA, PCNSE), F5 are a plus.

This position offers a base salary range of $117,800 - $184,800 based on relevant skills and experience and includes a generous benefits plan. We welcome all qualified candidates who are currently eligible to work full-time in the United States to apply.
