OverviewKimley-Horn’s Phoenix office is seeking a Power Studies Engineer with 4+years experienceto join their Electrical team.With a focus on serving clients within thepower delivery andrenewable energy sectors, the Power Studies Engineer will act as a technical expert in thedesign, analysis,and optimization of electrical power systems. This is not a remote position.ResponsibilitiesSupport the power electrical teamtoanalyze systems, createsoftwaremodels, andwritereports forpower delivery or generation projectsAssistwith project design, specifications, and planssupportReview workwith quality in mindtoconfirmcompliance withKimley-HornqualitystandardsStudies performed may include (per candidateexperience):Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies using ETAP or SKMLoad Flow / Reactive Power AnalysisThermal Ampacity studies using software likeAmpCalcorCYMCAPGrounding studies usingWinIGS,CDEGS,or SKM Ground MatTransient studies usingPSS/E, PSCAD, or PSLFHarmonicstudies using ETAP or transient softwareRelaysetting development using SELAcSELeratorPartner withthe electrical team to createcalculationsanddrawingsfor power delivery and/or renewable energy projectsContinually gainknowledgein industryQualifications4+ years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer for an engineering firm or EPC1+ years' project management experienceEIT certification or path to move towards certification ispreferredCYMCAP,SKM, ETAP, EMTP-RV, PSS/E, PSCAD,WinIGS,or CDEGSexperiencepreferredUnderstandingor willing to learn, the NEC 2020 and IEEE standards and keep up with emergingtechnologiesGeneral understanding of engineering and energy systemsLoad Flow,Coordination, Short Circuit, and Arc Flash studies basic theory andmethodologyProficiencyusing Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)Proficient with Microsoft OfficeAbility to work and manage several project teamsconcurrentlyThe ability to work independently or in a team environmenteffectivelyThe ability to work in a fast-paced, challengingenvironmentWhy Kimley-Horn?At Kimley-Horn, we do things differently.
