BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Guidance Navigation and Controls Engineer to work with a team to solve complex problems and bring new technologies to market. This is an on-site position in Minneapolis working a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off. The ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required for this position.
The GNC Engineer is a technical position performing complex guidance, navigation, and control design for precision guided munition systems. The GNC group's scope stretches across algorithm design, modeling and simulation, hardware-in-the-loop development, and flight test support.
In this role you will:
- Develop autopilot control laws for highly maneuverable airframes to maintain stability and execute guidance commands across a large flight envelope
- Create navigation solution estimation algorithms using extended Kalman filters and other sensor fusion techniques
- Design guidance algorithms that optimize trajectories for air defense and land attack missions
- Create and integrate models to represent airframe components (seekers, actuators, IMUs, etc.), external sensors, targets, environments, and other systems represented in a 6DOF flyout model
- Conduct flight system performance analysis and system effectiveness analysis
- Perform post flight reconstruction and analysis to verify system flight test performance and validate flight simulation models
- Develop, modify, and maintain software tools to evaluate nominal and off-nominal flight modes using Monte Carlo methods
- Prepare presentations, reports, research, documentation, and other contract deliverables related to designs, analyses, and tests performed
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or closely related field with 6 or more years of experience; or Master's Degree with 4 or more years of experience in Guidance, Navigation, Controls or a similar engineering field.
- Proficiency in MATLAB.
