At a Glance

Legrand  has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Technician  to join the Focal Point Team in Chicago, IL . This person will work as part of a highly collaborative multi-disciplinary team to bring new or enhanced products to market, along with providing a developmental opportunity to learn more about the systems and processes at Focal Point. In addition, the successful candidate will find that the opportunities to grow within Engineering are numerous.

What Will You Do?

· Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to bring architectural luminaires to market and improve existing products

· Ownership of project deliverables, including design drawings, design review action items, supporting documentation, bill of materials, packaging, instruction sheets, etc.

· Assist project teams with design, bill of material generation, CAD drawing modifications

· Support production through training, communicating custom requirements and troubleshooting

· Assemble prototype designs and install in mockups

· Simultaneously support multiple projects

· Collaborate with regulatory and field support teams as needed

· Establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with all support functions

· Continuously look for opportunities to improve engineering processes

· Detail-oriented, with a desire to “roll up your sleeves” to help your team get the job done

· Strong communication and organizational skills

· Ability to learn, comprehend and apply new concepts

· Customer-focused with a sense of urgency

Requirements :

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or Associate degree in a technical program.

· Working knowledge of 3D CAD software. SolidWorks preferred.

· Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel

· Experience with hands-on prototyping
