This position requires strong hands-on experience with networking technologies, a deep understanding of network security protocols, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment supporting mission-critical systems. The Network Journeyman will collaborate closely with senior engineers, system administrators, and security personnel to ensure network integrity, compliance, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deploy, configure, and maintain Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for network access control (NAC), including 802.1x authentication for both wired and wireless networks.

• Ensure compliance with Comply to Connect (C2C) policies by implementing network access control (NAC) standards and collaborating with security teams to enforce endpoint security before granting network access.

• Install, configure, and maintain network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points in accordance with established standards.

• Manage network devices across LAN/WAN environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

• Monitor network performance using various tools, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and resolve network outages.

• Implement and enforce network security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems.

• Assist in the development and implementation of network policies and procedures to ensure compliance with DoD security regulations and industry best practices.

• Perform network diagnostics, analyze traffic, and provide regular performance reports to senior network engineers and management.

• Configure and manage VLANs, access control lists (ACLs), and Quality of Service (QoS) settings.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, security personnel, and help desk staff to provide comprehensive IT support.

• Participate in the evaluation and selection of new network technologies to improve efficiency, scalability, and security.

• Provide end-user support, documentation, and training related to networking issues and infrastructure.

• Maintain detailed records of network configurations, changes, and maintenance activities.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is required.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in network administration and support, with a solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, ACLs).

• Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networking equipment.

• Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Wireshark, or similar.

• Working knowledge of network security concepts, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and Virtual Private Networks (VPN).

• Familiarity with implementing and maintaining Quality of Service (QoS) and traffic-shaping policies.

• Experience with VLAN configuration, trunking, and inter-VLAN routing.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve issues in a high-pressure environment.
