The Role

The Hosting Network & Engineering Engineer is a technical specialist working as part of the Hosting Engineering team. The engineer is responsible for leading the sustaining engineering of our managed hosting datacenters, liaising closely and supporting, where appropriate, strategic initiatives led by the architecture team. The engineer will review, approve and execute change requests to ensure successful change management usually in the realm of software and hardware lifecycle management. For complex outages, they will troubleshoot systems and network incidents to provide the maximum availability and optimal Mean Time To Repair. The engineer will ensure the Operations Centre has all the documentation necessary to understand and support the infrastructure. The candidate will be qualified to a minimum of CCNP/JNCIS level or a similar proven track record of experience.

The Main Responsibilities

1. Software upgrades and lifecycle management
2. Hardware upgrades and lifecycle management, including migration, re-design, etc.
3. Escalating to the relevant Architecture team as required, promptly following procedures and ensuring management is updated accordingly.
4. Maintain, troubleshoot and co-ordinate replacement of faulty hardware.
5. Daily review and action of open projects; updating Project Managers on current projects and their status as appropriate.
6. Creative problem-solving to identify the source of problems
7. Create or update documentation including network diagrams, procedures, and policies to ensure consistent support of the infrastructure.
8. Provide guidance to adjacent support tiers to assist in resolution of complex network, system and security incidents
9. Provide and obtain timely updates to/from relevant parties (internal and external)
10. Partner with the Problem Management Centre to reduce re-occurring incidents
11. Review system and network configurations with Service Delivery to ensure successful implementation of services into production
12. Logging cases to 3rd party vendors requesting assistance on unresolved issues.
13. Other duties as assigned

What We Look For in a Candidate

3. Working knowledge/understanding of Microsoft products.
4. Troubleshooting basic Server problems.
5. Be organized and be able to work under pressure.
6. Detailed working knowledge of a range of networking and security technologies, including:
7. Cisco switches and routers including Cisco ACI
8. Juniper switches and routers
9. F5 Big-IP load balancers
10. Able to demonstrate understanding of key networking concepts, including:
11. TCP/IP
12. Layer 2 and layer 3 switching and routing
13. Routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
14. Security solutions such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, and SSL Certificates
15. In-depth troubleshooting and strong analytical skills.
16. Use of packet capturing technologies such as Wireshark and NetScout.
17. Knowledge of platform technologies including Microsoft Windows, Unix and/or Linux.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

1. $94420 - $125890 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
2. $99390 - $132510 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
3. $104360 - $139140 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
4. $109330 - $145770 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
