This position is an on-site role based out of Houston, Texas.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide engineering technical support during heavy maintenance checks for the United Airlines worldwide fleet of aircraft, including Structures, Systems, Interiors, and Avionics.
  2. Initiate corrective actions to return aircraft to service in a safe, airworthy condition in a timely manner.
  3. Design and develop technical data for aircraft repairs and modifications.
  4. Perform technical engineering substantiations through complex engineering analysis by hand and computer software programs.
  5. Author engineering repair instructions for maintenance.
  6. Provide technical support for base maintenance aircraft to ensure timely return to service.
  7. Develop substantiating data for aircraft and equipment design/repairs through knowledge of aircraft operational characteristics, materials, and processes.
  8. Investigate, perform root cause analysis, and develop airworthy solutions for chronic aircraft issues.
  9. Coordinate extensively with other UAL operational groups to ensure airworthiness, safety, regulatory compliance, warranty liaison, operational reliability, and efficiency.
  10. Interface with internal and external organizations regarding specific aircraft and component issues.
  11. Organize and manage priorities for assigned responsibilities and accomplish work to meet all deliverables for base maintenance aircraft.

What’s needed to succeed: (Minimum Qualifications)

  1. B.S. Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace) or equivalent relative work experience.
  2. Minimum of 7+ years at an engineer level or similar role, with at least 3 years in structural background developing structure repairs.
  3. Maintenance check engineering experience on Boeing and/or Airbus aircraft.
  4. Knowledge of Code of Regulations (CFRs) airworthiness design and substantiation criteria.
  5. Ability to interpret complex and technical Engineering and OEM documents.
  6. Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.

What will help you propel from the pack: (Preferred Qualifications)

  1. Boeing/Airbus Structures I course or equivalent.
  2. Knowledge of FARS (especially 145, 25, and 121).
  3. Advanced engineering degree.
  4. Boeing Structures II and III.
  5. Boeing Composite Repair Course 1 or 787 Course.
  6. FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant License(s).
