Responsibilities:

Noblis is seeking Senior Aeronautical Engineers to support the NASA Air Traffic Systems and Surveillance Services directorates within the Program Management Organization (PMO). You will support aeronautics research within the Aviation Systems Division at NASA Ames Research Center. The work is focused on developing research concepts and prototype software that provides autonomous Air Traffic Management (ATM) services to all types of airspace users that will enable safe integration of autonomous vehicles into the National Airspace System.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct research, development, and evaluation of advanced air traffic control and management automation concepts. Propose new automation concepts and algorithms, help identify issues, and provide solution recommendations.
  2. Engage with NASA teams and partners on requirements development and systems design for aviation simulation and prototype demonstration systems.
  3. Lead system development and produce system performance metrics, measures of effectiveness, and measures of performance.
  4. Lead development of the data management strategy and architecture including identifying data collection needs, data models, and requirements.
  5. Interact with senior researchers, customer (i.e., NASA), and other project engineers to develop and execute research plans which include milestones, requirements, schedules, design & development activities, deliverables.
  6. Conduct system performance assessments.
  7. Prepare presentations and reports as required, present results at seminars and conferences, and publish papers as appropriate.
  8. Work effectively with others including functional staff for day-to-day operations and efforts to improve operational excellence.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Multiple levels available.
  2. Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  3. Experience with designing and leading research studies involving fast-time simulations.
  4. Expertise with scripting languages like Python and MATLAB, databases like NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) and SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL).
  5. Experience with predictive analytics techniques, data mining, text analytics and predictive modeling.
  6. Expertise in software architecture, object-oriented design unit testing.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and its applications.
  8. Demonstrated excellence in a related research and development environment and a sustained record of academic publications.
  9. Background and experience in numerical analysis, algorithms, and scientific computation.
  10. Analytical and problem-solving skills for design, creation, and testing of custom data analysis tools.
  11. Possess excellent written and oral communication skills with experience writing routine reports and correspondence and presenting to customers or employees.
  12. Ability to work independently, effectively, and professionally in a team environment (co-workers, customers, and supervisors).

Associate Level:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  2. Five or more years of experience.
  3. Compensation: $81,950 - $128,070.

Mid Level:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  2. Seven or more years of experience.
  3. Compensation: $99,330 - $155,185.

Senior Level:

  1. Master's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  2. Ten or more years of experience.
  3. Compensation: $120,010 - $187,495.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Background in aeronautics, air traffic management research, or unmanned aerial vehicles.
  2. Experience with Atlassian tools, Confluence, Git, Jira.
  3. Proficiency in Java, C/C++.
  4. Knowledge of data science and machine learning.

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.

Posted Salary Range: USD $81,950.00 - USD $187,495.00 /Yr.
