Reporting to the Managing Director of Online Security Technology (OST), this people leader of Online Authentication will drive the development and maintenance of said systems supporting all lines of business across the firm. This role will provide guidance to software development teams with respect to evaluating technologies, implementing target architecture, designing solution and reference architectures for Online Security Solutions. Ensures Applications and Platforms across the domain are highly available in conformance to SLAs to minimize client-impact outages, reduce risk including market and regulatory, and drive continuous delivery for the broader organization to meet key commitments.

Role Overview

The Director will lead development efforts in accordance with Schwab Technology Services strategy in support of Client Authentication and Authorization. The ideal person will be an experienced technology manager preferably with domain experience in Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM). Accustomed to running large teams with a significant scope of responsibility including managing managers and architects. A senior, trusted leader for business and technology partners in helping drive effective decision making and delivery of projects. Have extensive experience running agile development teams with a solid understanding in how to effectively lead production systems. A progressive career of developer or dedicated technologist with a track record of hiring great talent. Seasoned and experienced delivering projects on time, on budget and to expectations. Excellent communications skills with demonstrated ability to inspire others to achieve greater goals.

What you have

  • 10+ years of leading and running IT teams as a people leader, developing and documenting resource roadmaps, budgets and schedules. To include project management, resource management, and offshore resource management capabilities.
  • Identity and security domain expertise within the last 3 years
  • A work history of software programming experience with Java, C++ .NET and/or C#. This includes good knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Red Hat LINUX, standard relational databases, such as Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2 or Oracle and NO SQL Databases.
  • 5+ years’ running medium to large/complex projects with multiple dependencies. Demonstrated experience defining and communicating strategy, vision and influence across a large enterprise level team is important.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related subject area highly preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a flexible and fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations.
  • Experience in planning, implementation, and support of business application components, including change and release management.
  • Strong technology affinity and experience, as well as attention to detail and the ability to design, and complete strategic goals.
  • Experience leading in an Agile delivery environment and implementing Continuous Delivery is a big plus.
  • Broad and deep knowledge of IT/software technology and trends, domain knowledge and experience in infrastructure support, application development, and cloud based application development, web services, middleware, operating systems, databases, networking, security and business intelligence.
  • Manage day-to-day activities and lead team members to leverage, follow, and support agile software development and DevOps practices.
  • Assist, 'Run' and 'Support', teams in building durable systems/applications and ensuring a low MTTR (mean time to resolution).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical coding and mentoring when necessary.
  • Building strong relationships and promoting collaboration.
  • Identifying talent, recruiting, hiring, and building strong teams. Coaching, mentoring, and provide direct, timely performance feedback; experience setting direction, tracking progress, and ensuring accountability.
  • Solid interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced and focused team.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
