Department Overview: The Analog Garage is ADI’s Research and Advanced Development Center in downtown Boston and empowers ADI by pioneering breakthrough technologies. The Deep Tech Architecture group within the Analog Garage is applying leading-edge circuit design, device design, and nano-scale fabrication technologies to develop innovative solutions to big societal problems.

Position Overview:

The Deep Tech Architecture group is seeking a motivated, experienced Lead Neurotechnology Research Engineer to join our team developing disruptive solutions for big challenges in health of human, health of planet, autonomy & intelligence, and other strategic focus areas for ADI. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in areas like computer science, hardware engineering, neuroscience (biology), or a related field. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of biologically-inspired computing and sensing systems, leveraging ADI’s broad range of advanced semiconductor technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and Innovation: Conduct cutting-edge research in the field of neuromorphic engineering, exploring novel architectures and algorithms inspired by the human brain and propose innovative directions for engineering and technologies.
  • Data Analysis and Simulation: Utilize simulation tools and data analysis techniques to model and test neuromorphic systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware/digital/mixed-signal engineers, software/algorithm developers, and biologists, to integrate and optimize neuromorphic technologies.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Design, implement and test prototypes of neuromorphic devices, ensuring the specifications of these devices are met.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive documentation and technical reports on project progress, methodologies, and outcomes.
  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of the latest advancements in neuromorphic computing and sensing, artificial intelligence, and related fields to continuously improve the team’s capabilities.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A strong candidate with a Master’s degree will be considered for this position.

Experience:

  • Hands-on experience in neuromorphic engineering, neuroscience or related areas.
  • Proven track record in research and development of neuromorphic computing systems or similar technologies.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of at least two of the following subjects: neuromorphic computing, artificial neural networks, and machine learning, neuroscience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar.
  • Experience with hardware description languages and digital design is a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a creative approach to complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment.
