Senior Network Engineer

ASSYST is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to work from our client location in Laurel , MD.
Leveraging their extensive knowledge of LAN/WAN systems, the Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the administration, engineering, architecture, monitoring, and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, as well as DNS and DHCP appliances. They will also work collaboratively with IT team members on various technology project implementations.
Duties / Responsibilities:

• Designs, deploys, maintains, optimizes, and troubleshoots enterprise-class networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Plans and executes network changes, network hardware and software upgrades, refreshes, and replacements.
• Provides technical and problem-resolution support related to network hardware and software
• Supports the existing infrastructure and assists in designing and deploying data network solutions supporting business and technical initiatives.
• Utilizes network monitoring and management tools to evaluate the status of the environment daily, performs capacity planning, network analysis, and optimization
• Develop and maintain comprehensive and timely documentation, including addressing plans, network topology diagrams, rack elevations, data flows, and other technical documentation.
• Delivers periodic reports concerning network metrics, including, but not limited to, network uptime statistics, bandwidth consumption, network link utilization, and outages for network links and network equipment.
• Works with ISPs and circuit providers to bring up circuits and resolve data communications issues as they arise

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or other related field with five years of hands-on experience or High school diploma or equivalent with ten years of direct hands- on networking experience
• Active Cisco CCNP Certification or CheckPoint Certification
• Skillset: Checkpoint Firewall
• General Experience: Cisco NXOS-based routers and switches and Cisco ISE Experience in enterprise network operations.
• Specialized Experience: Hands-on experience with network routing protocols like EIGRP,BGP & OSPF and switching technologies like Spanning Tree, EtherChannel, Port Security, and 802.1X
• Experience with application Citrix load-balancing and Citrix Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB)
