A Snapshot of Your Day:The Coating Engineer is a member of the ManufacturingSupport team within the Turbine Design Department. The purpose of this team is to support thedevelopment of new turbine components during design and process qualification andto disposition manufacturing non-conformances of production hardware. An important role of this position is to helpimplement and industrialize new coating technologies from technologydevelopment into the manufacturing environment in collaboration with internaland external manufacturing and sourcing organizations. This position is a central engineeringinterface between turbine design and turbine manufacturing organizations. You work closely with both departments andinternal and external vendors to develop manufacturable designs duringcomponent design phase, develop and approve proper manufacturing processes tomanufacture components, and address production issues during serial production.How You’ll Make an Impact:Support coating technology industrializationinto the casting supply base.Conduct and support coating and other processqualifications of turbine hot gas path components.Evaluate in-process manufacturing data withrespect to design intent.Ensure new components follow the principles ofdesign for manufacturing.Draft and revise specifications and productdefinition as well as design for manufacturing philosophies.What You Bring:Master’s or Bachelor's degree in materialengineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering or comparablequalification.3+ years of professional experience in the fieldof high temperature coatings and materials.Experience with manufacturing processes utilizedin gas turbine manufacturing such as thermal spray and vapor depositionprocesses.In-depth knowledge of high temperature thermalbarrier, oxidation resistant and wear resistant materials and properties.Prior knowledge of gas turbine hot gas pathcomponents, materials or manufacturing.Business travel of up to 25% required.Highly motivated individual acting as a rolemodel in motivating others, adhering to safety guidelines, and performingassigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner.Excellent written and verbal communicationskills.Applicants must be legally authorized foremployment in the United States without need for current or futureemployer-sponsored work authorization.
