About the Company:

Little Otter is reimagining the way that children receive mental health care. We pair technology and exceptional care to deliver high-quality personalized mental health support to families and children anywhere, anytime. Developed by Dr. Helen Egger and the top minds in early childhood mental health, our programs empower families to get back to what matters the most as soon as possible. Little Otter helps parents better understand their child's emotions and behaviors, providing personalized care plans and evidence-based therapy.

We are looking for team members who are mission-driven and excited to actively participate in growing our offering. Our engineering team is small, where there's an opportunity to have a large impact on the work we are doing and the decision-making process. Our approach is to take a data-driven and evidence-based approach to providing high-quality mental health care to families and children, and we are building the platform to enable it. This will be the first of its kind - a platform that focuses on providing a family-centric model to care and one that powers our providers to provide data-driven care.

Our software engineers are involved through the entire product lifecycle from early brainstorming and design, to prototyping and implementation. You'll have the opportunity to thrive when working closely with product managers, designers, and directly with the users (therapists, psychiatrists, other healthcare professionals, and families) of our software to make sure we are building a product that is solving real problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of significant product areas, guiding the full product development lifecycle from concept to launch and feedback incorporation.
  • Own and drive the development of large product areas, ensuring a seamless integration of AI and data visualization components.
  • Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into compelling product features.
  • Develop performant and user-friendly interfaces, ensuring an excellent user experience for a diverse set of users, including patients, caregivers, and healthcare specialists.
  • Mentor and lead other engineers, promoting best practices in coding, design, and architecture.
  • Engage in UX and design discussions, advocating for an intuitive and impactful user experience.
  • Iterate quickly based on user feedback, adopting a continuous improvement mindset.

About You:

  • 5+ years of experience building applications with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React/Redux, Angular, Vue).
  • Strong portfolio in developing interactive, user-centric web applications.
  • Proficiency in developing interactive and visually appealing web applications that handle complex data sets and analytics.
  • Proficient in creating reusable components within complex codebases, maintaining a high standard for quality.
  • A keen eye for UX and design, with a passion for building products that delight users.
  • Self-driven and fully responsible for delivering on mission-critical objectives.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively and are comfortable navigating fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Familiarity with server-side technologies (Python, Java, GoLang) is a plus.
  • Nice to haves include experience in the healthcare or mental health space, mobile application development, and demonstrated leadership.

Why Us?

  • Collaborate with a passionate team dedicated to making a meaningful difference in children's mental health.
  • Build cutting-edge solutions at the intersection of technology, healthcare, and mental wellness.
  • Influence the early technical direction of a rapidly growing, mission-driven company.
  • Benefit from a competitive compensation package, including equity, comprehensive health benefits, and a flexible remote-first work environment.
  • Enjoy a generous PTO policy and a culture that values work-life balance and personal growth.

About The Company

Early intervention is essential for lifelong health and wellness. Still, most families and children do not receive the mental health support they desperately need. Little Otter is a venture-backed startup reimagining how children and families receive mental health care. We bring technology, proprietary methods, and exceptional providers together to deliver high-quality mental health support directly to families and children anytime, anywhere. Little Otter's assessments identify a family's unique needs, providing a customized care plan that includes a mix of teletherapy and digital self-management tools. Parents receive personalized and judgment-free support that grows with their family over time. Little Otter is the first product of its kind that is sold directly to families. Our goal is to break down existing barriers to high-quality services and empower parents to help their kids when they need it the most.
