Spawning from the CrossFit arena and now a popular consumer brand, is an exciting component of Outdoor Cap where eCommerce is its primary channel of business.
The role of the BI Developer is to drive business efficiencies by providing data insights on key operational metrics. The position requires an analytical mindset with a willingness to understand business processes, dive into operational data, and develop streamlined reporting to drive business decisions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deep understanding of data integration, visualization, and analysis to drive business decision-making.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that ingest, process, and deliver data from various sources, including large and disconnected data sets.
- Design and build interactive dashboard, reports and visualizations using BI tools to support business decision-making across departments.
- Cross-collaboration with teams to define data requirements and streamline the data collection, transformation, and visualization.
- Serves as an expert data interpreter. Understands data and drives actionable insights from the data to support business decisions.
- Implement and maintain ETL processes to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent data flow between systems.
- Monitor and optimize BI solutions to ensure fast query performance, high availability, and scalability.
- Perform data analysis utilizing appropriate analytics methodologies and foster data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and governance by establishing and enforcing best practices for data management.
- Highly proficient with MS SQL Server BI Stack tools and technologies, such as SQL, Power Query, Power BI, DAX, Data Modelling
- Proficient in writing SQL queries and use of Relational Keys, Select Queries, Joins, Data Modelling, Fact and Dimension Table Types, Different Schemas, DDL, DML
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, R, or similar) for data manipulation and automation
- Internally motivated, able to work proficiently both independently and in a team environment
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues
- Superior time management and multi-tasking skills
- Strong work ethic with demonstrated flexibility to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or related field; and/or equivalent combination of related experience and/or training
- 3+ years of experience in designing and developing datasets in either Power BI or Tableau for reporting
- 3+ years' experience in dimensional data modeling; star or other schemas
- 2+ years of recent direct experience with MS SQL Server
- Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend and move about the office
- Required to have close visual acuity to perform computer tasks, and expansive analysis and reading.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds infrequently
