Job Summary:

As a Rail Engineer , you will play a crucial role in supporting the design and development of rail infrastructure. Your experience and leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the success of our rail projects, from concept through construction . You will work with clients , collaborate with interdisciplinary teams , and contribute to the delivery of high-quality rail solutions . With guidance, you will apply techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform assigned tasks. This position performs routine technical work that requires previous experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • CAD Design : Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed drawings , plans , and layouts for rail infrastructure and related components.
  • Technical Expertise : Apply your knowledge of rail design principles to solve complex engineering challenges . Perform track alignment , drainage , utilities , at-grade crossings , and earthwork design using Microstation and InRail software. This includes developing detailed plans and assisting with construction cost estimates and project specifications .
  • Technical Support : Collaborate with rail engineers across the country to provide technical support in the development of rail projects, ensuring designs meet quality and client standards .
  • Data Analysis : Collect and analyze data relevant to rail projects.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with multi-discipline teams , including engineers and project managers, to ensure seamless project execution and compliance with design requirements.
  • Quality Assurance : Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure plans are technically compliant and meet client standards.
  • Other Duties : Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet business needs.
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in CAD software (MicroStation, InRail) is required .
  • OpenRail experience is a plus .
  • Knowledge of rail industry regulations , codes, and standards.
  • Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills .
  • Effective communication skills , both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a national team environment .
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
  • Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program .
  • 2-3 years’ experience preferred.

Preferred Credentials:

  • EIT preferred

Additional Information:

  • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only ) will be based on individual education , qualifications , experience , and work location . The salary range for this position is $77,850- $95,000 .
