CNC MachinistJob Category: Service Contract ActTime Type: Full timeMinimum Clearance Required to Start: SecretEmployee Type: RegularPercentage of Travel Required: Up to 10%Type of Travel: LocalThe Opportunity:CACI is seeking two CNC Machinists in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division’s (NSWCCDs) Fabrication Group, located in Bethesda, MD, for the machining of parts that will be used in Research and Development tests and assessments in support of the development of DoD ship and submarine systems. This is a state-of-the-art prototype fabrication facility equipped with both HAAS and Doosan machines. Machinists frequently use both 4- and 5-axis CNC machines, mills, and lathes to fabricate parts with tolerances of +/- .001”. Both the research and development environment, coupled with the advanced equipment available, makes this a fantastic opportunity to continue honing your skillset as a machinist.Responsibilities:Ability to determine and perform appropriate set up of CNC Vertical machining centers for programs provided by CAM programmersExperience with 4- and 5-axis CNC machinesAbility to design and build fixtures preferredKnowledge of G and M codes with ability to program at the control to build fixtures and edit CAM generated programsAbility to select appropriate cutters and tool holdersAbility to set-up and operate the full range of machine tools found in a well-equipped prototype development shopAbility to maintain dimensional accuracy, to specified tolerances that may be less than +/-.001", during machining processes, through the use of measuring instruments (e.g. vernier calipers, inside/outside & depth micrometers, gage blocks, surface and height gages, and dial indicators).Ability to work independently with minimal supervisionComfortable asking questions, taking instruction, and then applying that new knowledge on the jobAbility to read blue prints and mechanical drawingsKnowledge of Mil-Spec and GD&T specificationsAbility to work from verbal instructions and sketchesAbility to perform machine shop math and trigonometryAbility to lift and maneuver objects weighing 80 poundsAdhere to safety protocolsQualifications:Required:At least 1-3 years of work experience in CNC machining or Successful completion of machinist apprenticeshipJourneyman CNC Machinist qualificationTrade School certificateHigh School diploma or equivalentDoD Secret Clearance or capability to be granted and maintain DoD Secret ClearanceKnowledge of Shop, Facility and Division Safety Policies and requirementsDesired:Experience with HAAS/Doosan machinesExperience with HAAS machine automationExperience with CNC lathes and CNC millsCAM and Solid modeling CAD experience a plusAbility to operate a forklift a plusThis position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately.
