We currently have an exciting opportunity available in our Connecticut office for an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer with a forward-thinking mindset, particularly skilled in signal and signal system design.

The senior traffic engineer will play a key role in performing and overseeing technical designs, development of projects from conceptual to final design, oversee the preparation of contract plans and documents, mentor staff, manage traffic projects and perform business development, project pursuits, and client management. The key focus of this position will be on in-depth research, innovative design, and practical application of the latest traffic technologies. This includes expertise in adaptive signal systems, Peer to Peer (P2P) signal operation, Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPM), and the deployment of Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) solutions. Responsibilities:

1. Perform, manage, and oversee design on traffic and transportation projects
2. Perform detailed traffic analysis, traffic signal design, traffic modeling and simulation, intersection geometrics, complete streets, and temporary traffic controls
3. Manage traffic related projects
4. Technical design lead on concurrent projects
5. Review and prepare traffic related contract documents
6. Provide responsive client service through strong and expeditious communication
7. Mentor junior staff to enhance their knowledge and advance their career development
8. Attend and present at client and public meetings
9. Perform business development and manage project pursuits
10. Collaborate across internal disciplines and office locations

Requirements

Skills Required:

1. Working knowledge of CTDOT requirements and standards
2. Proficiency with traffic analysis and modeling
3. Proficiency with traffic signal design
4. Proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation
5. Knowledgeable about traffic signal equipment and controller menu navigation
6. Ability to perform on-site signal equipment/operational diagnostic services

Education, Certification, and Experience:

1. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
2. Connecticut Professional Engineer license required
3. Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) preferred
4. IMSA Traffic Inspection Certification desired
5. 10 years of related engineering experience in traffic
