Engineer - Chicago

Summary/objective:
DeSimone Consulting Engineers is seeking an Engineer with structural design experience on mid to high rise building projects.
The candidate will perform structural engineering design on a range of projects and assist a senior staff member in the completion of day-to-day projects. Work will include computer modeling of building foundation and superstructure systems, design of structural elements, preparation of structural drawings, site visits and submittal review. Responsibilities will include the application of standard engineering design principles and development of engineering judgment to accomplish work assignments. The candidate will keep clear records of all design calculations and work product.
Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program. Master of Science degree a plus.
• One or more years of relevant coursework in structural analysis and design.
• Coursework in concrete, steel, wood and masonry design
• Ability to learn local and national building codes required for project work.
• Knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
• Ability to work in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Detail oriented with strong people and team skills.

This position is classified as salaried, exempt. The hiring salary range for this role is anticipated to be $64,000 - $74,000 dependent upon experience and qualifications.

For this particular position, we expect to hire near the middle of the range. To be considered for this role, we are looking for candidates with at least 1 year of experience in the industry, and must have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, a Master's degree is a plus.
We understand that there may be rare and exceptional circumstances where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position. In these cases, we may consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
