We have an opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Materials and Structural Analysis Semiconductor Business Unit based in Hillsboro, OR. Our main focus is on providing physical failure analysis and metrology solutions for the semiconductor market. At our Hillsboro site, we manufacture world-class electron microscope systems and core technology that drives innovation across the globe. Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with Marketing, Project Management, Operations, suppliers, and diverse engineers and scientists to lead hardware development of customized, high-value microscopes with exceptional precision.
2. Collaborate with a team of 4+ engineers to coordinate mechanical engineering tasks and schedules. Communicate with other teams and report progress to the project team.
3. Development of electromechanical systems from requirements to production release with concept layout, detailed design, analysis and testing as appropriate with a strong emphasis on precision design.
4. Lead prototype builds to manufacturing release, including selecting sources, procuring material, installation, and qualification.
5. Provide mechanical scoping and guidance for new projects, product customizations, and potential portfolio changes.
6. Support release to production including all documentation required to source and manufacture product.
7. Lead improvements in tools, processes, and standard methodologies.
8. Provide innovative solutions to design challenges.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering.
2. 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience leading the development of complex capital and/or metrology equipment. Advanced degrees highly desired and may substitute for experience.
3. Track record of releasing complex products to production, with a demonstrated focus on high quality and meeting aggressive project schedules.
4. Precision machine design proficiency, design for stiffness, controlling degrees of freedom, error budgeting, sensor selection, material selection, GD&T, design for manufacturability.
5. Experience with traditional and additive manufacturing methods and joining techniques (machining, sheet metal, welding, brazing, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Masters in Mechanical Engineering.
2. Successful track record leading multi-functional technical teams.
3. Experience with metrology, motion systems, machine vision, vacuum systems, ceramics, high voltage, wafer handling, automation and/or charged particle systems.
4. Experience with technology development and qualification.
5. Proficiency with CAE.
