The Sartorius Lab Products and Services (LPS) team is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our efforts in Ann Arbor, MI. In the Manager of Software Engineering position, you will be responsible for guiding the development, execution, and improvement of our software products and managing a team of Software Engineers developing data acquisition software.


Your role will involve strategic planning, overseeing project lifecycles from inception to deployment, and fostering an environment of innovation and excellence. Ideal candidates will possess a strong technical background, a proven track record in managing high-performing teams, and the ability to drive projects to successful completion.


What You Will Accomplish Together With Us

  1. You will provide strong leadership and mentorship to a team of software engineers, fostering an environment of innovation, high performance, and continuous improvement.
  2. One of your tasks will be to champion the adoption and optimization of Agile methodologies across all software development teams, ensuring principles are effectively integrated into the software development lifecycle.
  3. You will develop and implement best practices and standardized processes across the engineering department to enhance efficiency, reduce redundancy, and ensure consistency in deliverables.
  4. In this role, you will ensure transparency, clear understanding of project objectives, and alignment of efforts across the organization.
  5. One of your duties will be to provide expert technical guidance to the engineering team, aiding in the resolution of complex technical challenges.
  6. You will stay updated on the latest technology trends and incorporate innovative technologies and methodologies to maintain a competitive edge.
  7. Oversee quality assurance strategies and establish metrics for assessing software quality and performance.
  8. You will ensure effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders across the organization, translating technical details into business impacts and ensuring that project goals meet business objectives.
  9. Utilize your knowledge to efficiently allocate and manage resources, including personnel, technology, and budgets, to maximize productivity and meet project objectives.

What Will Convince Us

  1. You have completed a Bachelors degree with a focus on Engineering or related field.
  2. You possess 10+ years of direct experience in managing software development teams, with a proven track record of leading, mentoring, and growing high-performing teams.
  3. You have extensive experience with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum, with a strong ability to implement and adapt these practices to fit team needs and project requirements.
  4. Deep understanding and hands-on experience in cloud-based software solutions, including familiarity with major cloud service providers, e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and their respective services and management tools.
  5. Proficiency in software development and architectural knowledge.
