The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Civil Computer-aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Designer to join our Texas Infrastructure Team in Dallas, Austin, Houston, or San Antonio!

The selected candidate will work with associates assisting on a variety of conventional and design-build projects that combine innovative Texas roadway and/or Aviation design with a strong knowledge of technical standards to exceed client expectations and provide cost-effective solutions. This position works independently, under general supervision, exercising judgment in the application of standard methodologies and procedures for routine work. The candidate will utilize CADD software packages to create quality and timely deliverables for projects, supporting our Aviation and/or Transportation design teams by developing design models and drafting plan documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and revise plan documents and details, maintaining RS&H quality standards
  • Collect and prepare data for evaluation
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of civil engineering basics including sheet organization, topographical data, scales, coordinate systems, site grading and volume calculations
  • Quality assurance adherence to best practices and standards
  • Perform engineering tasks with the use of CADD software and equipment
  • Provide support to engineering and project management associates
  • Act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to design

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s degree in CADD (or similar degree) or 2+ years of experience as a CADD Designer
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, REVIT, and/or Bentley Open Roads Designer (ORD)
  • Basic knowledge of geographic information system software (ArcGIS)
  • Basic knowledge of LiDAR/point cloud manipulation software
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret red line drawings, as well as understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions
  • Experience using Bluebeam and MS Office products
  • Effective team-focused associate that will foster teamwork, help set priorities, and define expectations
  • Good organization and motivation skills
  • Enjoy working in a highly flexible, team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication, analysis, and documentation skills
