Senior Cloud Engineer


Company Overview: X4 Life Sciences has partnered with a rapidly growing biotech organization located on the East Coast of the USA. This company, having recently joined forces with a major tech player, is set for significant expansion in the coming months, making it an exciting time to join their team.



Role Overview: The Senior Cloud Engineer will lead cloud development initiatives on Google Cloud, focusing on transitioning bioinformatics applications from traditional in-house servers to a scalable web platform. The ideal candidate will be a Google Cloud expert with strong experience in web-based application development, backend APIs, and infrastructure.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain cloud environments (development, staging, production).
  • Collaborate with external software development teams.
  • Monitor cloud health and control operational costs with IT.
  • Engage in backend development and cloud component integration.
  • Design APIs and perform code reviews while mentoring junior engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with CI/CD best practices and security protocols.


Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Google Cloud technologies (GKE, Gcloud, Terraform, etc.).
  • Extensive experience in web-based application development with a focus on backend APIs.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven track record of working with contract software teams.
  • Experience in a small but fast-growing organization.
