We are seeking a highly skilled QA Engineer to join our team. This role will be responsible for creating a simple, transparent, and delightful banking experience for tech comfortable retirees. You will be collaborating with everyone in the tech and product team to architect and build new systems from the ground up as well as maintain existing systems. It is a unique and challenging role, which will provide you with immense opportunity to design and develop wide-reaching tools. We are an early-stage startup and we expect every member of our team to roll up their sleeves and do what is needed to deliver an amazing customer experience.
You’d be joining a highly experienced group of founders including our CEO Kevin Nazemi, who served as the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Oscar Health (NYSE: OSCR), and a company financially supported by some of the most respected FinTech Investors.
We commute to the office once a week hence we are only considering local candidates who are current residents of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Valid US work authorization is required as visa sponsorship is not available.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts to thoroughly test consumer-facing and internal applications.
- Identify and document software defects and communicate them to the development team.
- Perform regression testing to ensure that previously identified issues have been resolved.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and understand project features and requirements, and review technical designs.
- Design, implement, and maintain automated testing processes and tools.
- Monitor and track defects throughout the testing process and ensure their resolution
- Develop quality metrics and use data to drive actions and decisions.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to improve software usability and functionality
- Maintain a complete understanding and visibility of upcoming product functionality, release schedules, and dependency risks across development teams.

Qualifications
- At least 6 years of experience in complete end-to-end testing lifecycle including testing the products existing and new features, automating test cases, reporting bugs, and manual testing.
- At least 2 year of experience working in a neobank, FinTech, or financial services such as banking, capital markets, investment management, or economic consulting.
- Domain knowledge in banking and finance.
- Fluent in at least one major programming language and would be able to switch between multiple languages. In our stack, we mainly use Java or Javascript/Typescript.
- Experience with functional and non-functional testing types and elaborate and estimate test efforts; understand how to build robust tests to minimize defect leakage by performing regression, performance, deployment verification, and release testing.
- Proven track record in testing large-scale web and mobile frontend apps end-to-end.
- Experience in testing backend APIs.
- Expertise in database testing including designing and manipulating test data.
- Experience testing accessible (ADA-compliant) responsive web interfaces is a bonus.
- Experience with Agile development incorporating CI/CD, utilizing technologies such as Jira, GIT, Maven, Jenkins, Chef, Sonar, and PowerMock, and using TestNG, JUnit is highly desirable.
- Experience planning, building, and orchestrating software testing frameworks and device test automation using Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, Robotium, Appium, or similar tools is a plus.
- Ability to deep dive into logs to troubleshoot errors and look at the entire process holistically to identify areas for improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with agility in working with a variety of individuals and groups, both in-person and virtually with remote team members that are geographically spread across the world. Being a team player who respects diversity and a multitude of cultures on the team is a must.
