REPORTING TO: Service Department Manager

Founded in 1998 by Andrew McHale, DLC goes above and beyond to support the contentment of clients and design colleagues, with projects around the San Francisco Bay Area, North Bay, Wine Country and Peninsula.

We seek a Project Engineer for the Concierge Service Department .
This is a dual-role position, assisting on small remodel projects, as well as supporting the concierge service needs of our clients. Generally, it’s 60% typical PE/Project Engineer duties and 40% concierge tasks, although this can fluctuate at times, depending on department needs. This position reports to the Concierge Service Manager (CSM). We seek a candidate who is flexible, eager to learn all facets of high-end construction and client relations, and grow in the position.

This is a salaried, full-time position with benefits.

The Project Engineer is responsible for responding to the individual discerning requests and needs of our clients, with professional and timely responses. Inquiries and requests from the client include varying types of needs, from personal requests, to small “how to” questions, to scheduling warranty, maintenance, seasonal tasks, and emergency calls at times. This position must be able to quickly find the information, coordinate the response team, professionally follow up with the client, and track all related correspondence and ongoing issues.

The Project Engineer must show professionalism and etiquette with every client and their requests. This is a very individualized service we provide - tailored to the unique needs related to the property and lifestyle of our established and exclusive clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare the customized concierge program.
  • Take notes (keep checklist) at initial walkthrough of residence.
  • Understand the tailored needs of the project.
  • Enter checklist in Smartsheets / Centriq.
  • Schedule and update the calendar with the appropriate services.
  • Create client login for Smartsheets client portal.
  • Upon need, schedule Subcontractors and vendors.
  • Follow up with client to set up the needed service, according to client’s availability and schedule.
  • Be accessible to the clients by timely responding to their phone calls, texts, and emails.
  • Coordinate the needed solution directly with the client and/or schedule the appropriate DLC service provider.
  • Maintain warranty program and coordinate as needed.
  • Track all related correspondence.
  • Work directly and proactively with the CSM and Service Superintendent.
  • Respond to the occasional individual tailored requests for the client, and coordinate solutions with the CSM.

Small Projects

The Project Engineer provides support to the Project Manager with tracking project accounting and control, implementing direction per the PM and assisting to ensure compliance with quality standards. The PE is responsible for smooth organization, implementation and completion of the assigned project, to the satisfaction of the Project Manager. The PE is responsible for: document control, updating logs and project information throughout the project duration and archiving documentation at the project’s completion.

Project Engineers are office-based, working closely with Project Managers and regularly interact in the field with the site team and are integral to the building process. They work closely with the Superintendent and Project Managers on estimating and scheduling efforts, subcontractor buy-out, and project documentation/tracking including but not limited to submittal management, RFIs, RFPs and COs. Project Engineers understand design intent and apply the mechanics of how things come together in the field to collaborate effectively with the project team, architect, vendors, subs, suppliers and consultants.

EXPERIENCE SKILLS REQUIRED:

The company realizes that every interested candidate might not have all of the desired experience, and some training will be provided, but here is what they are looking for in terms of experience and skills… the more you have, the better!

  • Three plus years of construction administration support experience.
  • Ability to read plans.
  • Proficiency with MS Office with a proficiency in using spreadsheets, word processing and database application.
  • Proficiency with Spectrum, Procore, Bluebeam a plus, these are our main platforms we use for management.

  • Willingness to travel to construction sites as required.
  • Strong focus on quality.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

  • AA degree in construction management or equivalent experience and/or certification.
