Community Assistance Network (CAN) has operated in Baltimore County for nearly sixty years, focusing on addressing and eradicating poverty in our communities. Since the pandemic and resultant economic effects, CAN has been uniquely positioned to provide additional needed support for struggling families, particularly in Essex. Funding for CAN will provide the opportunity to assist more families with case management, housing assistance, job development, connection with other existing Baltimore County resources, and holistic support for the whole family. Additional staffing is needed to help residents in Essex connect with available resources and navigate a post-COVID reality. Many individuals and families have already received COVID-related assistance but are still struggling to make ends meet.
