As a Service Engineer, you'll have the responsibility to support our organization's ability to maintain, repair and overhaul gas turbine engines used in flight applications. A Service Engineer's role is to focus on engine and module assembly and disassembly, along with associated special processes required as part of the engine overhaul process. This includes conveying technical work scope information from the customer to the shop technicians and developing required process documentation. Service engineers are responsible for ensuring that the engine work scope meets customer expectations for reliability, performance, and configuration. Service Engineers are responsible for driving continuous improvement events in their areas to improve shop efficiency, safety, and quality. Within all these tasks, Service Engineers help ensure our compliance with relevant airworthiness and customer contractual requirements.

What you'll do:

  • Review customer required technical and contractual data and develop and communicate engine work scope direction to the shop floor.
  • Ensure correct engine configuration, and that required service bulletins & airworthiness directives are performed.
  • Generate engine condition reports for presentation to customers and assist other aspects of estimating & invoicing.
  • Generate First Article Inspection Reports to ensure that newly introduced products conform to the required standards.
  • Participate in component Material Review Boards (MRB) and evaluate nonconforming material for possible repair options to return to service.
  • Generate and maintain Shop Orders, Work Instructions, Temporary Overhaul Data Revisions, and other Documents used to convey process instructions to the shop technicians.
  • Observe all applicable safety requirements and report immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carry out other duties and special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited engineering curriculum.
  • Direct engineering experience with the CFM56-7B engine or other GE engine product line.
  • Working knowledge of computer software systems.
  • Working knowledge of gas turbine engine theory.
  • Knowledge and experience in the following is preferred:
    • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
    • Measurement Systems Analysis
  • Minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Must be able to support off hours/on-call needs.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.

Preferred Characteristics:

  • Familiarity with US Government or Commercial Maintenance Manuals.
  • Experience participating in accident investigation.
  • Good project planning and organizational skills and an ability to accomplish projects on schedule with limited supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to clearly convey technical instructions both orally and in writing.
