The Role
We are looking for a skilled engineer to design and build self-service tools that help software development teams push code to production, at speed. Our tools support multiple workflows, plugin to various services across Amazon and scale as workloads increase. Our team owns feature development, performance, scalability and excellence on all our tools. You will work directly with our customers to make sure that changes and feature requests are balanced with performance and stability.

It is a challenge to work with hundreds of developers who rely on these tools and is also a great opportunity for engineers who are looking to push themselves and prove that they can achieve great things.

Our tools are critical to developer productivity, which means architecting a scalable, fault-tolerant system is essential.
You will engage with experienced, cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative solutions. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative environment. You will take part in designing solutions to hard problems across a global platform. You will work closely with multiple DevOps teams to drive the SDLC from concept to launch and ensure the highest level of quality for your deliverables.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Improving the user experience around services.
  2. Analyzing and improving availability, efficiency, capacity, scalability, security and performance of our services.
  3. Representing Systems while working with internal teams and external partners.
  4. Routinely merge source code between branches in a complex branching setup.
  5. Build, maintain and continuously improve infrastructure for a multi-site development team, including source code repository, build, integration, release tools and scripts, continuous integration infrastructure, packaging, and deployment tools.
  6. Develop processes and tools to maintain code base integrity, including check-in validation rules and branch/merge processes.
  7. Develop processes for, and perform ongoing integration of all open source and third-party code.
  8. Investigate and recommend best practices for maintaining code quality, including the development of code metrics, code review workflows, code coverage measurement, and the use of static and dynamic analysis tools.
  9. Influence and drive operational excellence best practices within the organization.
  10. Influence the team's technical and business strategy by making insightful contributions to its priorities and approach. Make a significant contribution to team planning.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with distributed systems at scale
