Director Of Engineering Systems

Plymouth, Minnesota - Hybrid

Daikin Applied is seeking a Director of Engineering Systems who will lead & direct activities of the PLM and Systems Technology team, and build the technical capability relevant to Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality customers internally. They will select, prepare migrations and support the PLM and systems infrastructure and lead towards an efficient engineering execution platform.

What you will do:

  1. Develop strategic direction and lead systems to improve engineering efficiency and delivery.
  2. Work closely with key business stakeholders to build an enterprise platform that enables Product Innovation, lifecycle management, design collaboration, product release management and quality function deployment.
  3. Work collaboratively with peers to define our future PLM technology roadmap and build strategic relationships with key IT & Business leaders to ensure success.
  4. Drive process improvement and development techniques for applications, and development test procedures.
  5. Set project priorities according to business needs and reconcile directions from competing interests.
  6. Lead change by setting the vision, gaining buy-in, and continuously communicating with all affected key stakeholders (people, functions, and leaders).
  7. Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
  8. Partner with management, engineering leadership, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  9. Forecast operating costs of capital, expense, and overhead for several departments and direct preparation of budget requests.
  10. Continuously interact and communicate with organization leaders. Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key engineers or officials from other organizations/companies regarding critical issues.
  11. In conjunction with the Engineering leadership, design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure PLM functions for business functional areas meet existing and future requirements.
  12. Maintain a working knowledge of EH&S safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  13. Manage 1-3 subordinate managers who supervise a total of 5-20 employees. Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or similar with 15+ years of related experience.
  2. Demonstrate extensive experience building and delivering large scale, on-premise, and cloud-based enterprise solutions, across multiple business organizations.
  3. Highly analytical with extensive technical and project management experience especially with hands-on experience in supply and demand planning solutions.
  4. Self-starter, flexible problem solver, and outstanding communicator who is comfortable learning quickly and connecting the dots between disparate technologies and organization needs.
  5. Develop in-depth capabilities for Quality Management System (QMS) software to track and manage all aspects of the manufacturing quality system, including documentation control, training, deviations, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), compliance management, audit management and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FEMA).
  6. Facilitate in defining master data definition, product hierarchy, product data model and identifying data ownership along with business stakeholders.
  7. Experience in building, developing, and managing highly effective engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. MBA or other advanced degree preferred. Academic qualifications specific to supply chain disciplines, such as production planning, manufacturing, and inventory control are highly preferred.
  2. At least 15 years of professional experience with a minimum of 8 years in demand or supply planning model building.
  3. Full implementation experience with one of the platforms such as Dassault Enovia, Agile PLM, Siemens Team Center or equivalent required.
  4. Experience in end-to-end implementation of LIMS (Lab Information Management Systems) and CPQ configurator systems (Infor CPQ) is preferred.
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop a deep understanding of business drivers and their interrelationship with supply chain performance, and to independently, creatively apply analytics capabilities against the highest priorities.
  6. 5+ years of industrial experience in GMP (Good manufacturing Practices).
  7. Experience with distributed systems, multi-tiered application development, service-oriented architecture, and microservice architecture.
  8. Domain knowledge in Change Management, BOM Management, CAD & SAP S4/Hana, Manufacturing, and other PLM areas.
  9. Experience leading system design, integration, and deployment in a complex, integrated environment.
  10. Knowledge of applicable product-related regulations and risk and compliance requirements.
  11. Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills.
  12. Understanding of internal manufacturing and production systems such as ERP, PLM, KBE and how to interface with such systems to enhance or augment their capabilities.
