Your role and responsibilities


In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.


The work model for the role is #LinkedIn-Onsite in Richmond, VA.


This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power division in NAM.


You will be mainly accountable for


• Understand ABB UPS product architecture and designs.

• Understand interactions of different energy sources and key components.

• Create Battery based Energy Storage solutions for UPS and Micro grids.

• Define control and communication concepts for Microgrid solutions.

• Validate and coordinate with different EMS solutions.

• Handle Change Requests, Product localization, optimization, and life cycle management in your functional area.

• Create and manage technical documentation and reports in support of highly effective and dynamic R&D operations.

• Collaborate within the team and other functional teams to manage the deliverables and improve R&D efficiency.


Qualifications for the role


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of Relevant Experience in development for Power conversion/ Energy storage systems or Microgrid solutions.
  • Control system development experience.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and grid codes for Energy Storage Solutions.
  • Experience in programming and simulation tools like MATLAB.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
