Home Innovation Team is composed of a group of seasoned engineers, product managers, designers and scientists determined to redefine how our customers purchase products for their home. We believe that the objects that we choose to surround ourselves with have a huge impact on our quality of life. Not only do they need to be useful, but they need to be beautiful, reflect our style, bring joy and make us proud. In addition, some of these products are also the largest purchases our customers make after their home and car; therefore, we must provide them with the right information and experiences to help them make the right decisions and bring comfort in purchasing the products online. Some of the technologies you will be working with include JavaScript, Node.js, Cloud, and Big Data, and the team is definitely a start-up, building from the ground up. It will include mobile, social, IoT, etc.
Key job responsibilities
Role
You will be a senior software development engineer. Senior engineers in Amazon play a pivotal role in setting technical direction, delivering complex platforms, and driving a culture of technical excellence. Specifically, we are looking for someone who can:
- Drive the technical agenda for our image processing and augmented reality investments.
- Make smart design decisions, write solid code, and build the cornerstones of our key platforms.
- Mentor our more junior engineers and drive technical and operational excellence in everything we do.
- Build end-to-end experiences for our customers, across multiple Amazon sites.
- Integrate & reuse the existing Amazon services to build fast and at scale.
- Be a role model of creativity in solving complex technical and design problems.
- Work closely with the business team to help ensure we have the right products for our customers.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
