Responsible for the operations of a large program or center at the university. Oversees staff, budgets, and projects.
- Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure all goals are met.
- Hires and directs the activities of staff.
- Resolves personnel issues as they arise.
- Engages in budget-planning, grant oversight, and policy development.
- Implements new programs and projects and monitors ongoing activities of department or center.
- Reviews department policies and processes and implements improvements as needed.
- Represents department or center to internal and external constituents.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB POSTING INFORMATION
Provide career advising and programming to undergraduate and graduate students of the Cullen College of Engineering to assist them in identifying and achieving their career goals. Develop relationships with campus partners and external constituents including employers, alumni and faculty/staff to fulfill the goals and mission of the Engineering Career Center.
DUTIES:
- Advise students and recent graduates through individual counseling appointments regarding career development and exploration, developing effective experiential learning and job search strategies in varying industries aligned with the college and professional development.
- Develop content and conduct classroom presentations on a variety of topics to include, résumé writing, interviewing, internship/job search strategies, developing effective networking skills and more.
Relationship Development Administration
- In collaboration with the career center team, maintain relationships with employers, students, and student organizations to steward potential employment and programming opportunities.
- Work with internal stakeholders to develop new relationships and expand existing relationships.
- Collaborate with internal communications team to effectively market opportunities to students and employers.
Serve on University and college level committees as assigned. Represent Engineering Career Center at special/outreach events hosted by the college including New Student Welcome Event, Student Organization Fair, Cougar Paw meetings and more.
Administration
Leads Co-operative education program for the University.
- Administer and interpret assessment instruments and conduct periodic evaluations of career development activities as necessary; track data relevant to career services as determined by college leadership, including first destination and 6-month surveys.
- Co-lead and manage Career Ambassadors
- Hire, train, mentor and/or supervise students;
- Provide planning and day-of staffing support for a wide range of career development programs and services.
Event Planning & Programmatic Support
Serves as primary point for several signature events; overseeing logistics, employers, student volunteers, in addition to the marketing and advertising of the events.
Support Cullen College at graduation each semester to encourage graduating students to complete first destination survey.

Qualifications
Qualifications Bachelors and 5 years experience
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.
