Position Summary

The Engineering team, organized by product groups, is responsible for the architecture, design, development and operations of all systems and applications supporting Five Below’s Retail footprint. Accordingly, we have Merchandising and Inventory Management, Planning and Allocation Accounts Payables and Corporate Finance, Stores and Omni, Logistics, BI and Data Platform, Ecommerce Engineering and Tools.


The Senior Software Engineer, Corporate Finance, will split their responsibilities between planning and designing complex development projects, working with stakeholders to ensure we meet the needs of our business while staying in budget, mentoring and managing the work of the onshore and offshore teams, and developing the roadmap for our future platform. This role will be aligned to our Corporate Finance track, which focuses on the end to end journey for multiple business teams in the Corporate Finance domain, as well as enhancing new features and capability on the respective enterprise platform and integration middleware.


Job Responsibilities:

  1. Working with stakeholders to ensure we meet the needs of our business while staying in budget.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and report on vendor performance metrics, ensuring consistent service quality and alignment with organizational objectives.
  3. Facilitate routine communications between the organization and vendors, acting as a primary point of contact to ensure seamless collaboration and timely resolution of inquiries.
  4. Developing the roadmap for our future platform.
  5. Contribute to the development of the IT engineering strategy and the strategy for software development methods, configurations, tools, and techniques.
  6. Oversee/coordinate supporting technical work required with other Five Below IT teams, including infrastructure (e.g., network, DevOps) and upstream and downstream system owners (warehouse management systems, order management systems, InfoSec, etc.)
  7. Develop code, scripts, and designs per business requirements when needed.
  8. Conduct and lead design, code and configuration reviews.
  9. Participate in Agile rituals – daily standups, iteration planning, story huddles, retrospectives, creation of burn up chart’s inceptions, document technical work in technical stories using JIRA board, and estimate (using agile points/story sizing techniques) the work effort required to complete those stories.
  10. Design complex software applications, components and modules using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed software design standards, guidelines, patterns and methodology.
  11. Develops road maps to communicate future development activity.
  12. Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to on shore and offshore team members.
  13. Conduct market research, competitor analysis and stay ahead of emerging trends.
  14. Collaborate with product and system teams to ensure thorough test coverage and identify areas for process enhancement.
  15. Analyze and report on test outcomes, including results, challenges, and risks, even when reviewing others' work.
  16. Plans and drives development projects which support the organization’s objectives and plans.
  17. Identifies and evaluates alternative design options and trade-offs. Creates multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders and to handle functional and non-functional requirements.
  18. Leads the design and refinement of complex software configurations for deployment, collaborates on method and tool selection, ensures adherence to standards for quality outcomes, and actively engages in both self-review and peer-review processes.
  19. Collaborate closely with the operations team to conduct root cause analysis on intricate challenges, ensuring a thorough understanding and resolution.
  20. Assesses and analyses release components for input to release scheduling, and ensuring proper change control is documented and followed.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
  2. 5+ years leading an agile team of full stack engineers on design and solutioning in a multi-cloud hybrid ecosystem.
  3. 5+ years Exposure to multiple integration orchestration patterns and middleware tools.
  4. 5+ years delivering solutions to complex business problems, and omni-channel, collaborating with cross functional teams including infrastructure, Infosec, compliance, product owners and engineering vendors.
  5. Experience with Agile, Continuous Integration, TDD, Continuous Delivery, Pairing, Automated Testing.
  6. Good prioritization, negotiation, and communication skills.
  7. Good knowledge of design patterns.
  8. Sound technical experience in Oracle EBS Financials (Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Procurement modules) is a must.
  9. Experience with Oracle Fusion Middleware.
  10. Experience in Oracle Fusion API's and integrations.
  11. Experience and strong knowledge of Oracle database management systems, including Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
  12. Integration of data and process into and out of Oracle ERP Cloud using Databricks.
  13. Experience in script development with Python, Databricks, Pyspark.
  14. Demonstrate experience in building RESTful APIs.
  15. Working experience with Azure, Oracle Cloud (OCI) is desired.
  16. Understanding Oracle AWR reports and SQL fine tuning.
  17. Experience with Enterprise Schedulers.
  18. Technical experience with Oracle EPM Cloud Platform would be desired.
  19. Retail / Ecommerce experience is a must.
  20. Highest level of personal integrity, and the ability to professionally manage confidential matters and exude the appropriate level of judgment and maturity.
  21. Exceptionally self-motivated and directed.
  22. Must be able to support on and offshore teams.
