The Emerson Test & Measurement Transportation Business Unit Systems R&D team has an opening for a Senior Software Engineering Manager. In this role, you will lead a team of software engineers that develop software for advanced test and measurement platforms that automotive OEMs and Tier suppliers use to create innovative new vehicle architectures. We need a manager that can help the team grow by identifying skill gaps and building development and recruiting plans to support the rapidly evolving automotive trends around electrification and autonomous driving. You will be responsible for ensuring high quality and efficient engineering results through the definition and execution of our processes. We are looking for a proven leader focused on continuous improvement who can be an advocate for their team as we support the Transportation BU in its mission to accelerate the future of transportation by transforming test into a competitive advantage.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  1. Directly lead team members by coaching them, finding opportunities to drive velocity, and removing roadblocks while maintaining priority on their development and career growth.
  2. Ensure efficient and timely collaboration with R&D teams, CCS, manufacturing, compliance, and other supporting teams to accomplish the release of the systems.
  3. Drive cross organizational resolution of customer quality issues.
  4. Be effective at identifying and resolving issues.
  5. Mediating and influencing technical discussions and key business trade-offs to facilitate decisions.
  6. Drive development quality and efficiency through process definition, training, audits, and initiatives.
  7. Analyze process and skill gaps on the team and address them by recommending changes, trainings.
  8. Deliver one-on-one meetings to review project status, performance goals update, and career development.
  9. Teaching and enabling adherence to the engineering process, software development best practices, and tools.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  1. Education in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  2. + years of leading engineering teams on development of complex systems (as a tech lead or line manager).
  3. Experience in software development (LabVIEW, C, C++, Python).
  4. Proficient in multi-functional collaboration and skilled at influencing others without authority.
  5. Builds the clock - Lead initiatives that help the organization evolve and become more effective/efficient.
  6. Ability to quickly build credibility and trust for effective collaboration towards mutual outcomes.
  7. Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills, lead and work effectively with teams.
  8. Excellence in engineering practices and analytical problem-solving skills, project management processes and strategic planning.
  9. Demonstrated persistence, strong sense of ownership and accountability, sense of urgency.
  10. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment.
  11. Focus on continuous improvement.
  12. Persistently drive tasks and lead projects to successful completion.
  13. English Language Competency and effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  1. Experience in transportation industry, understanding of the ADAS and HIL (Hardware in the Loop) technologies.
  2. Understanding of Agile methodologies.
  3. Experience in the Test and Measurement or Control and Automation industry or relevant high-tech industry.
