Job Requirements / Description
responsible for all operational aspects of the plant during the work shift, including personnel and equipment safety, the pilot plant operate ensures safe and efficient start-up, operation, and shutdown or the chemical plant equipment from inside the control room. The pilot plant operator may report to and support the Shift Supervisor and/or plant management. The pilot plant operator may provide input on matters pertaining to Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities, plant improvement projects, and third-party activities. Monitor and operate all equipment as required for safe and efficient operation of the plant to include opening, locking, and tagging for isolation and maintenance. Participate in scheduled safely meetings and training. Safely operate vehicles on-site as required. Perform start-up, operation. and shutdown of equipment. systems. and the plant in accordance with approved plant procedures. Monitor and record plant operating parameters inside the control room: adjust as required to maintain safe and efficient operation of the plant. Upon detecting faulty equipment operation. diagnose the cause then take proper action to restore the equipment and plant to a safe condition. Monitor plant air and water emissions and lake steps to maintain within acceptable limits. Immediately notify Shift Supervisor and/or plant management of abnormal situations. Direct the actions to the field operator as required to start-up,operate, shutdown, and respond to abnormal situations from outside the control room. Provide periodic reports to the shift supervisor and or plant management regarding plant status. Identify, troubleshoot, correct and report on conditions that are likely to develop into operational problems or safety hazards. Ensure thorough turnover from pilot plant operator being relieved. including special orders, unusual operating conditions, and review or operating logs and key parameters. Perform tests on critical safely systems, as directed. Perform and direct equipment isolation in accordance with plant lockout/ tagout procedures. Maintain work area in a clean, orderly condition. Assist in training of site staff. Perform minor maintenance as directed during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance periods. Perform other duties as assigned by the shift supervisor and/or plant management.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must have HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have Excel and Word experience
  • 3 plus years of industry experience
  • Mechanical instrumentation and electrical equipment knowledge is required
  • Must know all facets of chemical or process demonstration unit plant operations.
  • Must be able to competent decommissions in emergency situations.
  • Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication
  • Must have knowledge of equipment isolation and tagging procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of the purpose and proper use of the plant safety equipment
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, organizational skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills is needed
  • Experience operating process demonstration units preferred
  • steel-toes boots are required
  • MVR is required
  • Must be able to work a 24/7 as needed
Dress code: collard shirt and jeans
Monday -Friday 8 am - 5 pm normal shift: 24/7 shifts will be required
5 day PTO and paid holiday included
