Rate: £47,000 – £55,000 Plus Car/Allowance and Excellent benefits package
Our client is a Tier 1 D&B Contractor operating predominately in the water industry who have been awarded programmes of work to deliver non-infrastructure water and wastewater projects for multiple water authorities including Severn Trent, Thames Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water and Southern Water.
They are looking to recruit a Senior Structural Engineer, to be based at their head office near Manchester but with hybrid/agile working available. You will report directly to the Structures Lead and duties/responsibilities of the role will include:
- Production of structural design calculations for all aspects of Water Treatment and Sewage Treatment plants, including both new build and modifications to existing plants
- Review of structural content of construction drawings/models
- Review of subcontract design proposals
- Ensuring all work is considered for buildability, standardisation and DfMA, and for safety on site complying with CDM regulations
- Reinforced concrete and steelwork design to all relevant Eurocodes and British Standards
- Co-ordination and liaison within a multi-discipline organisation including construction oversight and site support
- Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the discipline
- Resource planning and responsibility for project delivery within budget and programme
- Coordination of designs with other disciplines and use of resources both internal and external
- Provide support to civil design staff
- Provide support to help develop junior staff
- Ensure designs take account of environmental issues
- Assist in improving processes and procedures
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Strong structural engineering design background, including technical detailing for Water Treatment and Sewage Treatment Projects
- Good knowledge of structural analysis and ability to use Microsoft Excel and design software such as StaadPro and Tekla TEDDS
- Degree qualified in Civil and/or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
- Membership of a professional institution chartered or nearing chartership
- Design experience for water retaining structures to construction standard using Eurocodes
- Structural design experience to construction standard
