Position Overview:

This position will be responsible for the overall strategy and execution of molding tool/process development and process validation of injection molded components for the launch of new medical devices at Argon.

What you will do:

1. Lead all molding related engineering activities for the development of new products within the New Product Introduction (NPI) department.
2. Lead the development and launch of new molding processes using your extensive knowledge and experience in molding engineering.
3. Collaborate with design engineers to ensure the manufacturability of new product designs and provide input on design for manufacturability.
4. Establish a robust process window for all injection molded components using Scientific Molding techniques along with Design for Experiments (DOE’s).
5. Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve any molding-related issues during the product development process.
6. Perform molding process validations (IQ/OQ/PQ) and mold qualifications.
7. Establish cost estimates for molded components.
8. Evaluate and recommend materials for molded components during the design phase.
9. Develop and maintain molding process documentation, including standard operating procedures, work instructions, and process control plans.
10. Use structured project management process to execute projects on time.
11. Conduct research and stay updated on industry trends and advancements in molding technology, and recommend improvements to current processes and techniques.
12. Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians on molding processes and techniques, and provide guidance and support to other team members.
13. Adhere to all safety and quality standards, regulations, and best practices in the manufacturing of medical products.
14. Communicate effectively with team members, management, and other stakeholders to provide updates on project progress and address any concerns or issues.
15. Act as a liaison between R&D, Tooling, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineering teams.

Skills for Success:

1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
2. RJG Master Molder Certification or AIM.
3. At least 7 years injection molding experience in medical device industry or clean room molding.
4. Must have excellent knowledge of injection molding presses (hydraulic and electric), molds, mold design and other related processing equipment such as hoppers/loaders, blenders, dryers, sprue pickers, hot runner systems etc.
5. Must have experience working with common molding grade plastics such as Polypropylene, Polycarbonate, ABS, Nylon etc.
6. Expertise in Scientific Injection Molding.
7. Must have the ability to communicate with as well as train and develop process technicians.
8. Knowledge of general mold maintenance and repairs.
9. Experience in validation of presses and molds (IQ/OQ/PQ).
10. Experience in Extrusion of PVC, HDPE and PU is a big plus.
11. Ability to apply analytical skills and scientific techniques in problem solving and development.
12. <5% travel required.
