Job Title: Distribution EngineerJob Description
We are seeking a Distribution Engineer for a one-year contract-to-direct position. Selected individuals will perform their own field work and can work fully remote for the rest of the time. The role involves connecting new homes and commercial businesses to the energy grid or upgrading existing connections. You will start by visiting the assigned work site to take notes, pictures, and measurements, which will help create the work package. This information will be used to create electrical drawings and perform electrical analysis to determine the necessary materials. Engineering calculations may include structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, transformer sizing, voltage drop and flicker, and coordination of protective devices. You will use SAP software to create a Bill of Materials (BOM) that will be used by the utility company's field installation team.
Hard Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
Associates Degree with relevant experience
Experience with utility companies or electric engineering consulting
Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD and Microstation
Soft Skills
Comfortable in both field and office settings
Ability to lift 20 pounds
Ability to walk up to 2 miles on unpaved surfaces
Reliable transportation

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).
Work Site
This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in WALLED LAKE, MI and some days remote.
Work Environment
Work locations include: Hamilton, Coldwater, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek/Lansing, Jackson/Adrian/South Monroe, West Branch/Clare, Saginaw/Bay City/Alma, Flint, Traverse City/Benzie/Boyne, Grand Rapids, Greenville/North Kent, Muskegon/Fremont, Cadillac/Big Rapids/Ludington. The typical workweek involves 10%-20% field inspections, 60%-80% engineering and development of design packages for construction crews, and 10% administrative tasks, planning, and customer follow-up. Field work can be flexible and scheduled around other projects and weather conditions. Other days can be remote.
