OVERVIEW:
Merrick & Company is looking for an Electrical Designer II for our San Antonio, TX office. This office specializes in electrical distribution design projects including medium voltage power, electrical services and streetlighting. This is a full-time position. An agreed upon hybrid schedule, working from both home and office, is available to employees in good standing.
Typical hourly pay range for this position is $31.83 - $40.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Work involves a variety of activities including conceptual and detailed design and coordination of overhead and underground medium voltage power distribution lines, service transformers, and electrical services to industrial, commercial, and residential properties. Work will require the use of GIS and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for development of construction drawings as well as coordination with clients, field meetings with construction personnel and customers, coordination of all project related requirements, and tracking of projects for meeting due date requirements.
Candidate will also be required to perform electrical calculations and be capable of self-guiding for project assignments under the supervision of PE licensed engineers. Additional responsibilities include As-Built review and associated site inspections, as necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Four (4) years minimum of overhead and/or underground electric distribution design experience.
Excellent communication skills and technical writing skills.
Proficient using Microsoft Office, Excel & Word.
Experience with CPS Energy or other electric utility distribution design projects.
Minimum two (2) years of experience using GIS and/or CAD software.
Experience with the NESC (National Electric Safety Code), NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), CPS Energy or other utility’s design and construction standards.
Ability to operate Merrick vehicle to report to client’s office (either 1604/Green Mountain Rd or I-35/Zarzamora St), field meetings, site assessments and staking.
Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
Candidate must pass a background check with the criteria set by the client
Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick’s insurance carrier.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s Degree or technical college certification.
Gas design experience.
Local candidates are strongly preferred.
