Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a transportation engineer in our Chicago, Naperville, Mokena, Crystal Lake offices. This position will primarily consist of design engineering efforts on a variety of transportation projects for State, County, and Local Agencies. A knowledge of designing roadway, drainage, and underground improvements with Geopak is preferred. This team-orientated position will include working with Baxter & Woodman’s diverse disciplines and offices.

POSITION DUTIES:

  • Design Roadway, Drainage, Underground Utility, and Infrastructure improvements using Geopak.
  • Conduct drainage, traffic, and various engineering studies.
  • Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
  • Complete engineering plans and specifications using DOT Standards.
  • Assist senior staff with client management, project pursuits, and business development.
  • Assist project engineers and managers by making significant decisions on a wide variety of tasks required during project delivery.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with at least 2 years of relevant job experience working on municipal or highway agency transportation projects.
  • Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation).
  • Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
  • Strong written, verbal, computer and organizational skills.
  • P.E. license preferred but not required.
