Job Summary
We are looking for a creative, collaborative and energetic addition to our communications team! This person will serve as the in-house Graphic and Web Designer. This role needs independent and strategic thought leadership as well as collaborative thought partnership with different constituents within the community. A successful candidate must enjoy the design process—helping to develop concepts, seeking and responding to community input, creating content, integrating feedback, and editing copy—as much as the final product.
The Designer will support Leadership and specific departmental initiatives by creating and producing print collateral and web platforms that reach students, employees, current, and prospective families, and the broader community. As part of a busy team, the Designer will support other members of the Department as they work to create excellent content on tight deadlines. The Designer should feel inspired by the mission of the school and ready to apply skills, knowledge, and talent to sharing the stories of Castilleja and working to help use the website and portals to build community connections.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Create graphics and collateral materials including, posters, publications, agendas, programs and invitations in high quality electronic and print formats.
- Create design elements for presentations and pitches.
- Maintain and enforce the Brand style guidelines to promote brand consistency.
- Create and update web pages, content, design and images.
- Regular Graphic Design in support of the website, apps, social media, and e-mail, and advancement campaigns.
- Proactively manage, review, design, and update website, portals, and brand collateral.
- Collaborate with other departments on web/portal content/updates/design/logos.
- Utilize analytics to optimize online presence.
- Create design templates for social media, community communication, and newsletters.
- Support high-priority messaging—crisis comms, construction updates, mission-driven initiatives.
- Take the lead on web based form design and management.
- Work within an established workflow and timeframe, to ensure that projects are well-managed and well-coordinated and that they are delivered on time.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Associate's degree or 2 years of equivalent work experience in the area of web design and/or online advertising design.
- Proven excellence in Graphic Design (print and digital, internal and external).
- Knowledge of Finalsite and Veracross.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, jQuery and JavaScript.
- Expertise in Adobe Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Photoshop.
- Attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and creativity in problem-solving.
- Ability to work in a team and to communicate in a clear way.
- Excellent knowledge of current web-design trends and techniques, a strong online portfolio displaying user-centered design.
- Knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
The base salary range for this position is $6,250 to $7,500 monthly which is equivalent to $75,000 to $90,000 on an annual basis. Base salary does not include benefits. Pay ranges represent a reasonable estimate of what the School anticipates paying for a role. The final base salary will be determined by factors such as skills, education, experience, job level, part-time status as well as pay equity and internal equity.
